Modeling Rendering Animation

Now that is a wicked-awesome car.

Using Rhinoceros, I designed this car in between and after classes while attending UVSC. After receiving more education on strength of materials and such, I plan to eventually finish the whole car. When I gain access to a full-fledged machine shop--either my own or through a company I become affiliated with--I plan to actually fabricate the body. I will probably end up retrofitting the body to an existing chassis, such as a VW Bug or Porsche 911.

The basis of this design started with a quick sketch one day while sitting through a particularly boring lecture in my beginning engineering class. A side view it was, with definite Bug-like fenders, using symmetry front and back. It was several days later that I took this idea of front/back symmetry into Rhino. Once started, I couldn't abandon the design. I incorporated the symmetry into every aspect of the car I could. The front headlights are the exact same shape and location as the rear lights. The engine scoop on the hood turns into a third brake light in the back. I also started incorporating features from other cars, the most prominent being Porsche and Audi, as well as the previously mentioned VW.
